See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager-core/+bug/147080/comments/4 All worked nicely - just had to adjust some of the tty stuff manually - the do-release-update script notifies you of files that have to be adjusted manually - the key ones being tty files that get created that aren't needed under Xen.
